Commonly known as Kew Gardens, the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew contain one in eight of the world’s plant species. There is also a stunning formal park, with six huge Victorian greenhouses that feel like gateways to the tropics, and the world famous pagoda that towers over the suburban landscape. Hidden away in a woodland glade is Queen Charlotte's cottage, which is best visited when a carpet of bluebells covers the ground.
 A natural jewel in London's out-of-town crown.
